I have really put ComChart through the paces... For the first 4 yrs, I was able to run my practice with just one FTE employee and built my practice up to 1600 patients while keeping my overhead low. ... went from my staff of one to a staff of 10-- exercise trainers, dietitians, nurse, etc., went from 4 work stations to 12 stations. Hospitals Center for Health is all PC, my practice us all Mac... No problem with ComChart... Everyone uses the computer they prefer and the EMR works on them all. One 2 hour staff meeting I inserviced the staff on using ComChart and many of them were charting their patient encounters that afternoon. My practice is all paperless ...
ComChart is very user-friendly, and we are thrilled with our decision to start our practice with it. Thank you for what you have done for us and for internists in general
My favorite part is the ability to individually tailor the office notes, progress note comments, standardized letters, flow sheets and medication lists to meet my individual practice and preferences. Also being able to see my schedule and send an immediate note to my nurse is invaluable. For instance, I can send a note "have tetanus shot ready" or "need ear tray" and she will have it ready instantly. The message board and TO DO list have eliminated the many notes on little slips of paper that could get lost or misplaced.
ComChart is the best electronic medical record on the market. The program is intuitive, easy to learn and is completely customizable for my practice needs. The format matches the flow of patient care. My office staff is using the program successfully with a few brief training sessions from me. My nurse loves the program. Customized changes are simple to incorporate and can be made on the spot. I love having all of my patient data "at my fingertips" at any time of the day. ComChart enhances patient care by allowing me to manage data more effectively and efficiently.
ComChart is the best EMR program I have ever seen! It dramatically improves both the quality and efficiency of my patient care delivery. It's obvious that ComChart was developed by a practicing physician because it really addresses the needs of a clinical setting. For example, when a patient calls the office, the clinical summary tells me all the clinical information I need to address the patient's concerns effectively. With ComChart, prescription refill is just as easy as clicking, printing and signing from the database in the patient file. There's no more phone calls from pharmacy for illegible prescriptions. More importantly, ComChart has much greater utility and flexibility, and allows me to customize functions to meet my patient care needs.
ComChart compares favorably with what I have used before (Logician Internet), with the added advantage of not requiring the Internet for chart storage. I like the prescription printing and faxing capabilities. Also the template creation process is very straightforward.
This is clearly the BEST EMR program I have seen. The interface is attractive, very clean and uncluttered, but has all the information you could possibly want. It is easy to use. This is exactly what we have been trying (but failed) to come up with!
I have looked at a lot of programs and ComChart is one of the most intuitive programs out there.
ComChart dramatically improves both the quality and efficiency of my patient care. Because ComChart was developed by current practicing physician, it really addresses the need for clinical setting. When patient calls the office, clinical summary screen tells me all the clinical information I need to address patient's concern effectively. With ComChart, prescription refill is just as easy as clicking, printing and signing from database in patient file. There are no more phone calls from pharmacies for illegible prescriptions. More importantly, ComChart has much greater utility and flexibility, and allow me to customize functions to meet what my patient care needs. It is a great EMR program I have ever seen!
ComChart is the closest to resembling how I currently use my Paper chart, compared to numerous other EMRs I have seen. For ease of use and direct access to any other field, ComChart outshines even the $15,000-30,000 systems.
I just wanted to say how wonderful this COMCHART is!!! Here I sit, at home, and I can finish a note, fax an order for future labs and it is DONE!!!! I can fax prescriptions as and they are DONE. In the time it used to take me to ask someone to do something, it is DONE! So, the staff can use their time doing more productive things than sitting on the phone! You know, a little over a year ago, I didn't even have a computerized medical record on my mind . . . and now it is difficult to imagine life without it!
Your price and terms are very reasonable for the product. I admire the per provider licensing structure, the integrated scheduling, the lack of nickeling and diming the customer for extra modules... I have spent a great deal of time exploring EMRs and tinkering on my own so I can really appreciate some of the neat features of ComChart, the intuitive ease of use, the minimum of steps to perform common documentation tasks, the incredibly comprehensive look at office workflow manifested in the design and details of the program. It looks like one of the quickest ways to generate a progress note, with a combination of pulling in existing patient information, yet flexible enough to incorporate new data and findings for a patient.
One of the biggest things I like is the To do list and pending tests/referrals. My office is better than average, but I do not fool myself that we have a foolproof tickler system for follow up on these; it can be a doctor's worst liability nightmare. I feel like your system could save perhaps a half of a FTE just to keep track of pending orders and follow up.
My prior experience with EMR is that I tried [name deleted.] After months of struggling, I felt like "I was working harder for it than it was working for me.
...I have been using comchart since the fall of 2000. Initially I used it as a stand alone without the networking capabilitities and converted ... to the fulll network version. Prior to using comchart I had been using MSword on a lap top to generate progress notes.
There were many unexpected positive aspects of using this program- Probably the most unexpected positive thing was the ability to convert my office to a paperless system. We have totally eliminated the need for filing in our office. Everything is in the computer- labs correspondance etc.
The second positive thing is the ability to generate consultation reports while seeing the patient and faxing the same reports to the primary care physician within minutes of the patient leaving the office. We have eliminated the need for a transcriptionist.
I was very suprised by the acceptance of my patients of the computer as part of the office visit. At first I thought that it might interfere with physician to patient relationaship. Only one old lady was upset that I was "playing with my computer while talking to her".
I have vastly improved documentation of my office visits.
The most difficult challenge for my staff was convincing them that we no longer had to keep all those unnecessary papers we were filing. All labs, Xray reports and correspondance is scaned and converted using OCR software and placed into the chart- all charts and data are available with a few keystrokes.
All my patient progress notes dating back to 1996 are contained on a single CD and can be accessed in a few seconds.
When copies of the patient charts are requested all my staff has to do is go to the patients chart hit the print button and the entire chart is printed and ready to be sent to whomever has requested the chart. We no longer need a copier in the office.
The support offered by Dr. Zwerling is outstanding- he usually responds by email within the same day and is available by phone if needed. He is contantly upgrading the program based on suggestions from physicians who are using the program.
I have been using Lytec as my billing software However we are experimenting with using comchart to generate the insurance billing forms and so far it has been outstanding. We are able to generate the insurance forms the same day. With all the information for the insurance company already in the demographics portion of the chart, the diagnosis with appropriate codes in the patients problem list it takes about 20 seconds to generate the form and the bills can be printed as a batch at the end of the day ready for mailing.
Before I settled on comchart I had been searching for several years for a program that I could use in my practice. What attracted me tothis program was it's ease of use but more importantly was the fact that I could tailor the progress notes and consultations to suit my way of practicing.
I have been using ComChart for 2 years! 2393 Charted patients and almost 10 GB of data
ComChart has:
1. Made my work more efficient
2. Made my charting a pleasure (in many ways "fun")
3. Allow me to perform more work in the same 9 hour day
4. Made the records uniformly legible
5. Reduced my overhead by 1.5 FTE (The initial investment paid for itself within the first 12 months)
6. Improve the quality of my patient care
7. Allowed me to better educate my patients
8. Almost eliminated "missed billing"
9. Extended the availability of the records to my home
10. Improved day to day communication with my staff
