Upon opening ComChart, the user is presented with the Demographics file. The Demographics file (see figure) contains the patient's phone numbers, address etc.

ComChart is design to enable the user to easily move from any location (file) to any other location (file.) For example, the user can move from a patient's demographic file to their lab results, progress notes, radiology results, patient calendar, prescription writing file, billing/encounter file, order lab tests file, or patient's flow sheet at any time and in any order.
To navigate between files, the user need only to click on the blue navigation button (bottom center of the above figure) or the black and yellow "ComChart" button that is located in the top left corner of all ComChart files. This ease of navigation rivals the accessibility of information in the traditional paper chart and most other EMRs.
When a patient comes in for a follow-up office visit, the first thing most physicians do, is to read a summary of the patient's record. This can be done in ComChart by going to the patient's "Clinical Summary" file.
